Johnston III Named to Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List

BIRMINGHAM – UAB senior quarterback Tyler Johnston III has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, which annually recognizes the nation's top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class.
Johnston III is one of 63 players named to the watch list and just one of four from Conference USA, along with Luke Anthony (Louisiana Tech), Chris Reynolds (Charlotte) and Bailey Hockman (Middle Tennessee).
Johnston III enters his senior year with a 13-5 record as the starting quarterback at UAB, including both of UAB's Conference USA championship victories.
With a full season ahead of him, Johnston III already ranks fourth all-time in career touchdown passes at UAB (35) and fifth in career passing yards (4,429).
Last week, Johnston III was one of five Blazers named to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List.
Johnston III and the Blazers are just 12 days away from opening the 2021 season. UAB squares off with Jacksonville State at the Montgomery Kickoff on Sept. 1. The game kicks at 6:30 p.m. CST on ESPN.
