UAB Lands 12 Players on Athlon Sports Preseason All-C-USA Team

BIRMINGHAM – Led by four Blazers earning First Team All-C-USA honors, Athlon Sports has released its Preseason All-Conference USA Football Teams.
UAB's First Team All-Conference USA selections include safety Kristopher Moll, defensive lineman Antonio Moultrie, and offensive linemen Colby Ragland and Sidney Wells.
All four of these players earned postseason recognition during UAB's championship run in 2020 as Moll, Ragland and Wells were First Team All-C-USA selections and Moultrie a Second Team All-C-USA honoree. Additionally, Moll earned Phil Steele Honorable Mention All-America status last season.
Moll and Moultrie anchored a defense that finished top 10 nationally for a third straight season in 2020. Ragland and Wells helped the offensive line rank fourth nationally in sacks allowed (4), while UAB averaged 200.0 rushing yards per game. The Blazers are expecting more of the same this season with the return of every starting offensive lineman from last year.
Following UAB's first teamers, running back DeWayne McBride, who averaged 9.3 yards per carry as a true freshman, earned a Second Team All-C-USA nod. Defensively, linebacker Noah Wilder and cornerback TD Marshall were also second team. Wilder and Marshall earned Second Team All-C-USA at the conclusion of 2020.
Third team honorees were tight end Hayden Pittman, who enters 2021 with a 25-game reception streak, defensive lineman Tyree Turner, and kick returner/running back Jermaine Brown Jr.
Wide receiver Trea Shropshire and outside linebacker Alex Wright rounded out UAB's selection on Athlon's fourth team.
The Blazers return 17 starters from last year's championship team and should once again be favored to win Conference USA. The Blazers have compiled 34 wins since returning to action in 2017, the most of any team in C-USA during that span.
