Protective Stadium Construction Update: May 6

BIRMINGHAM – As Protective Stadium continues to take shape, the construction process is set to hit key milestones as UAB Football inches closer to its home opener in less than five months against Liberty.
With the frame of the stadium finished and in place, the bowl was completed at the end of April. As fans view the Protective Stadium webcam, the turf installation is underway and has an anticipated completion date of July 1.
The seat installation on the West side of the stadium is the next milestone approaching. The Stadium Club will feature chairback seating and that begins in the upcoming week. The seating railing has also started.
The Blazers play their first game in Protective Stadium on Oct. 2 vs. Liberty, who finished the 2020 season ranked No. 17. Other home games include Florida Atlantic (Oct. 9), Rice (Oct. 23), Louisiana Tech (Nov. 6) and UTEP (Nov. 27).
UAB Football season tickets for the inaugural season at Protective Stadium are on sale starting as low as $75. New 2021 season ticket holders who complete their purchase following the April 1, 2021 priority seat deadline but prior to May 15, 2021 will pick their season ticket and parking locations in late May following the conclusion of the currently scheduled seat selection appointments for fans that committed prior to the deadline.
The Blazers return 17 starters from last year's championship team. UAB has won 34 games since returning to action in 2017, which is the most of any team in Conference USA during that time. UAB has won the C-USA West Division three straight years and the has claimed the conference title in two of the past three seasons.
