BIRMINGHAM – With just under five months until the Blazers play their inaugural game in Protective Stadium, the UAB Department of Athletics has launched a commercial scheduled to run on local television throughout the spring and summer.
Focused on what UAB and the City of Birmingham are building collectively with the BJCC, the commercial's theme is directed towards Protective Stadium belonging to an entire city that has come together to make the new home of UAB Football possible.
"Before we could build, we had to belong. Now we're building something that belongs to all of us. Built with stronger stuff than steel and stone. Built to be here, for good. This year, our address changes, but this has always been home."
The Blazers play their first game in Protective Stadium on Oct. 2 vs. Liberty, who finished the 2020 season ranked No. 17. Other home games include Florida Atlantic (Oct. 9), Rice (Oct. 23), Louisiana Tech (Nov. 6) and UTEP (Nov. 27).
