Jordan Smith Selected by Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021 NFL Draft

BIRMINGHAM – Outside linebacker Jordan Smith became the 15th player in UAB history selected in the NFL Draft as the Jacksonville Jaguars took him in the fourth round as the 121st overall pick.
Smith is the first Blazer drafted since UAB returned to action in 2017, and is the sixth player in school history to be drafted in the top four rounds.
In just 23 career games, Smith compiled 96 total tackles, 27.0 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks. He ranks ninth at UAB in career sacks, and his 10 sacks in 2019 were tied for the fifth most single season sacks in school history.
Smith was a two-time All-Conference USA performer, which included being named First Team All-Conference in 2020. He anchored a unit that finished top 10 nationally in total defense in both 2019 (8th) and 2020 (7th).
Along with those accolades, Smith represented UAB at the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl and was also invited to the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine.
Under the direction of first year head coach Urban Meyer, Smith joins a Jags draft class that includes the top overall pick quarterback Trevor Lawrence (Clemson), running back Travis Etienne (Clemson), cornerback Tyson Campbell (Georgia), offensive lineman Walker Little (Stanford), safety Andre Cisco (Syracuse) and defensive tackle Jay Tufele (USC).
