Rifle’s Kohan Named C-USA Spirit of Service Recipient

BIRMINGHAM – Sophomore Amy Kohan of the UAB rifle team was named the Conference USA Winter Sport Spirit of Service recipient, as announced by the league office on Monday.
"I am very proud of Amy, both athletically and academically," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "This award shows that she is committed to being the best she can be in all aspects."
The Spirit of Service award honors one student-athlete from each of the league's 14 members with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season.
Kohan logged more than 15 hours of community service during this semester and carries a 3.77 GPA in electrical engineering. She was named to the 2019-20 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and has been on the UAB Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of her three semesters on the Southside.
The Arlington, Va. native was a member of the All-Southern Conference First Team for both smallbore and air rifle as a sophomore, one season after being named the SoCon Freshman of the Year in 2019-20.
