Teiniketo Places Top 20 at 2021 Conference USA Championship

BIRMINGHAM – Senior Tia Teiniketo capped her UAB career with a top 20 finish at the Conference USA Championship at Jake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
After a shaky first round, Teiniketo (78-73-71 = 222, +6) played solid down the stretch, which was highlighted by a final round 71 (-1). Wednesday's final round moved her up 13 spots into a tie for 17th place overall.
For Teiniketo, she graduates as one of the most decorated golfer in program history. Her senior year was highlighted by winning two tournaments, placing top 10 four times and top 20 five times, while earning C-USA Golfer of the Week on three different occassions.
The Blazers (+52) finished the tournament in 11th place overall. Following Teiniketo, Emilia Smith (+13) tied for 32nd overall, Stephenie Fowler (+16) tied for 42nd, Shelly Chen (+19) placed 50th and Karlee Allen (+22) placed 54th.
North Texas (-1) won its first ever C-USA title, while WKU (+11), Middle Tennessee (+11), UTSA (+13) and Old Dominion (+23) rounded out the top five.
UNT was led to the team title by Audrey Tan who took the individual crown by shooting -9 and finished one stroke ahead of Old Dominion's Jana Melichova (-8).
