UAB to Face Southern Miss in Opening Round of CCSA Tournament

BIRMINGHAM β The UAB beach volleyball team has earned the No. 4 seed in the Blue bracket of the CCSA Tournament and will face No. 5 Southern Miss on Friday, April 23, at 9 a.m. at the John Hunt Park Beach Volleyball Complex in Huntsville, Ala.

The Blazers (12-13, 5-9 CCSA) and the Golden Eagles (9-21, 1-14 CCSA) will be meeting for the third time this season. UAB won each of the previous two matches by the score of 4-1. The winner on Friday will go on to face the top-seeded Georgia State Panthers.

The 14-team league will have two separate tournaments with the Blue bracket crowning a champion and the Aqua bracket crowning a champion. Both brackets are a double-elimination format.

Blue Bracket:
The Blazers are in the midst of one of their best seasons in program history. Highlighting the season was earning a top 20 national ranking for the first time in school history and winning a program-best five CCSA matches.
