BIRMINGHAM – Two UAB football graduates, Luke Brasher and Jacob Fuqua, were named to the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society, the organization announced this week.
Brasher, who is now furthering his education in UAB's Department of Physical Therapy, played significant minutes in last season's run to the Conference USA Championship. The Pell City, Ala. native registered 10 tackles in 2020, including 1.5 tackles for loss.
Fuqua graduated with his master's degree in education and was also an important contributor to the Blazers' success. The Williamson, Ga. native did not have a bad snap all season and was named Fourth-Team All-American by the Phil Steele publication. Fuqua was also a First-Team All-Conference USA Honoree and a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, given annually to the nation's top long snapper.
Brasher and Fuqua were two of just 12 players from Conference USA to be named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
