UAB to Host Blazer Beach Bash this Friday and Saturday

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team welcomes four teams to Birmingham this Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, for the Blazer Beach Bash at UAB's on-campus beach courts.
Playing its final matches before the CCSA Tournament, UAB welcomes Central Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, Mercer and ULM this weekend. UAB has defeated Central Arkansas and ULM this season, but has not faced Coastal Carolina or Mercer yet this year.
Tournament Schedule:
Friday:
8 a.m. – Coastal Carolina vs. Central Arkansas
10 a.m. – UAB vs. Mercer
12 p.m. – ULM vs. Central Arkansas
2 p.m. – UAB vs. Coastal Carolina
4 p.m. – Mercer vs. ULM
Saturday:
8 a.m. – Central Arkansas vs. Mercer
10 a.m. – ULM vs. Coastal Carolina
12 p.m. – Coastal Carolina vs. Mercer
2 p.m. – UAB vs. Central Arkansas
4 p.m. – UAB vs ULM*
*Indicates CCSA Match
The Blazers enter the weekend at 9-12 overall and are coming off a 3-1 outing two weeks ago at Southern Miss. Rachel Tam led the way by going 4-0 on court one and now owns an individual record of 11-10 overall.
Saturday's 2 p.m. match against Central Arkansas will be UAB's senior recognition for SalliAnne Napolitano and Annie Pringle. Napolitano enters the weekend tied for eighth in career wins at UAB with 42, while Pringle owns the most court three victories in school history.
Fan Information:
Due to COVID-19, the tournament this weekend is pass list only and there are no walk-ups allowed. Fans on the pass list will be asked to wear a designated wrist band for the specific match they are watching, and are asked to clear the courts following the match before re-entering.
Fans are allowed to bring their own food, drinks and lawn chairs. There will be no bleacher seating so bringing a chair is the only way to sit. Alcohol is not permitted at the UAB beach volleyball courts.
