After the Blazers fouled FAU in back-to-back possessions, the Owls' went up 72-66 with 11 seconds remaining, sealing the win.
"I'm so proud of the fight and resilience our team played with today," head coach Randy Norton said. "We lost the first quarter and played straight up the rest of the game."
The loss brings an end to the 2020-21 season for UAB, a season where the Blazers dealt with injuries early on and relied on youth to carry them through the schedule.
UAB lost junior Emily Frasco prior to the season after she medically retired and then lost Audrey Jordan and Jasmine Gracie to injury in the first game.
"What an amazing journey this season has been for our team and staff," Norton said.
"We started off the season losing three impact players to injuries for the year and many others that had to fight through various injuries. But despite all the injuries and adversities we faced, this team always stayed positive, kept working hard and always stuck together. I believe in this team and we are so excited about the future."
