Mikayla Law-Heese Named to CCSA Preseason Watch List

BIRMINGHAM – Redshirt freshman Mikayla Law-Heese has been named to the CCSA Beach Volleyball Preseason Watch List, as announced by league officials on Wednesday.
A highly touted prospect from Aurora, Ontario, Law-Heese competed in one tournament last year before the season was cut short due to COVID-19. She played on court one in that tournament and will once again be at the top of the lineup for UAB this season.
"Mikayla is a pure competitor," head coach Terri Del Conte said. "She loves to play and is always looking to create a thriving environment around her. Her performance and energy is inspiring and contagious."
Following high school, Law-Heese played one indoor season at Brock University in Canada before enrolling at UAB in the spring of 2020. Her first tournament came at TCU last season where she went 1-2 with a win against Missouri State and losses against TCU and the nation's No. 1 ranked team LSU.
Law-Heese has been around the sport of beach volleyball her entire life as her father Mark was a three-time beach volleyball Olympian for Canada and won Bronze at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Law-Heese leads UAB into its opening weekend of action this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27 at the Green Wave Invitational. The Blazers will open play Utah, Tulane, New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana this weekend.
