UAB Beach Volleyball Releases Complete 2021 Schedule

BIRMINGHAM β Playing a schedule that features competition against nine teams ranked inside the AVCA Preseason Top 20, first year head coach Terri Del Conte has announced the complete 2021 UAB beach volleyball schedule.

The Blazers will play in seven regular season tournaments, which all lead up to the CCSA Tournament on April 22-24 in Huntsville, Ala. UAB will once again host the NCAA National Championship in Gulf Shores from May 7-9.

According to the AVCA Preseason Top 20, UAB will face No. 1 LSU, No. 3 Florida State, No. 7 Grand Canyon, No. 11 Stetson, No. 12 Florida Atlantic, No. 13 FIU, No. 14 South Carolina, No. 15 TCU and No. 18 Georgia State throughout the season.

"It's an honor and a great opportunity for us to compete against nine of the top 20 ranked teams throughout the course of the season," said head coach Terri Del Conte. "We are excited to show who we are."Β

UAB opens the season on Feb. 26-27 at the Green Wave Invitational hosted by Tulane. Along with playing their first CCSA match against the Green Wave, the Blazers also face Utah, New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana.

The following weekend, March 5-6, UAB participates in the Horned Frog Challenge at TCU. The Blazers play three CCSA opponents that weekend in No. 13 FIU, No. 15 TCU and Southern Miss, along with a non-conference match against Central Arkansas.

UAB then hosts its first of two tournaments with The March to May in Gulf Shores, Ala., which is a premier event featuring some of the top teams in the nation at the site of the NCAA National Championship. While in Gulf Shores, UAB faces No. 7 Grand Canyon, Tulane, No. 18 Georgia State, No. 15 TCU and No. 1 LSU.

It gets no easier for UAB as the Blazers travel to Boca Raton the following weekend for the FAU Beach Bash. The tournament is scheduled for March 19-20, and UAB will face No. 12 Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, No. 3 Florida State and No. 11 Stetson.

Southern Miss is the next location for UAB on April 2-3, where the Blazers square off with New Orleans, Tulane, ULM and Spring Hill.

A trip to Atlanta follows where it will be a full CCSA weekend for the Blazers with matches against No. 14 South Carolina, No. 18Β Georgia State and Southern Miss.

The final tune up before the CCSA Tournament comes in Birmingham as UAB hosts the Blazer Beach Bash, April 16-17. Opponents that weekend include Mercer, ULM, Central Arkansas and Coastal Carolina.

The Blazers return 11 players from last year's team and have added six new comers to the roster.
