AUBURN, Ala. – Roman Postolka notched three consecutive victories in this past weekend's qualifying rounds at the ITA Southern Regionals to help place two Blazers into the Round of 32.
Postolka, a junior from Cesky Brod, Czech Republic, opened this past weekend's tournament with a back-and-forth three-set victory over Alabama State's Matias Amer (6-3, 1-6, 6-3) on Thursday. The junior then quickly dispatched Tulane's Charlie Barry 6-0, 6-2 before coming from behind to knock off Alabama's Joao Ferreria 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the main draw on Saturday.
Postolka had his strong run come to an end on Saturday, but he still joined fellow junior and Czech Republic teammate Michal Lusovsky in the Round of 32. Lusovsky had already qualified for the main draw and fell 5-7, 6-1, 3-6 in a tight three-set match to Tulane's Rafael De Alba.
In doubles, Lusovsky and teammate Thanos Spyropoulos advanced to the Round of 16 main draw with a pair of doubles victories. The duo earned their first win with an 8-7 (3) victory over Louisiana's Karlo Kajin and Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez.
