Stortz Earns C-USA Spirit of Service Award

BIRMINGHAM — Conference USA named senior Karlee Stortz as one of 14 recipients of the Spirit of Service Award.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designated to recognize community efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, academic good standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season, with Wednesday's honoree representing Conference USA's fall sports: football and cross country.
The senior has collected 135 hours of community service since her freshman year. Stortz has been involved in serving various organizations including the Lakeshore Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Smile-A-Mile, United Way of Central Birmingham, Habitat for Humanity, Miracle League of Gardendale, Children's of Alabama and local elementary schools.
In the classroom, Stortz carries a 3.24 GPA in biomedical engineering. The Lockport, Ill. native has been named to the league's Commissioner's Honor Roll on three occasions.
