A Look into UAB Cross Country 2020 Schedule

BIRMINGHAM — With five newcomers to this year's squad, UAB cross country is looking to improve off a sixth-place finish in Conference USA last year.
"This schedule does a great job breaking the ice from a long summer away from racing," head coach Matt Esche said. "Late February was the last time we laced up the spikes so this weekend will be a perfect way to jump start the racing season."
The Blazers are set to compete in four regular season events, including the Blazer Classic in Hoover. They start their season with a trip to Mobile, Ala. for the Azalea City Classic on Sept. 11, a meet that they won in 2014.
UAB will then travel to Troy, Ala. where they will run in the Troy Invitational on Sept. 26. Followed by the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla. on Oct. 2. The team will return home to host the Blazer Classic on Oct. 16. in Hoover, Ala. at Veterans Parks.
"The Classic will undoubtedly be the jewel of the NCAA XC season. We have a tremendous field already and are looking forward to the high level of competition. The Classic will provide a great test for the ladies and a perfect preview for the conference championships we host on the same course two weeks later."
The Blazers will round out the 2020 season at the Conference USA Championships, hosted by UAB on Oct. 31. This will be the first time UAB has hosted the conference championship since 1995.
All dates, time and meets are subject to change due to COVID-19.
