Ten Rifle Student-Athletes Earn SoCon Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB rifle team had 10 of its student-athletes earn a spot on the 2019-20 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the league announced on Thursday.
The Blazers who made the Honor Roll were: Jordan Blankenship, Sophia Flores, Hayden Hayes, Lindsey Hill, Amy Kohan, Tommy Loring, Zoe Lum, Lilly Vonderau, Maggie Vonderau and Blake Wingard.
The SoCon Honor Roll consist of student-athletes at member institutions, and those from associate members participating in Conference-sponsored sports, who achieve a 3.0 minimum grade point average (GPA) for the academic year while being a member of the final squad list during their sport's traditional season. Recipients must have been eligible to compete throughout the entire academic year.
"I am so proud of how these students finished out the year," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "Their resilience in the wake of all that has happened shows the kind of athletes they truly are. The way they succeed on the range and in the classroom is truly amazing."
Additionally, it was announced yesterday that Blankenship, Hayes, Lum, L. Vonderau and Wingard were named to the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team.
