UAB Has 13 Players Earn Athlon Sports Preseason All-C-USA Honors

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB football team had a league-high 13 players earn Athlon Sports All-Conference USA preseason honors, the publication announced on Monday.
Five Blazers were recognized with First Team All-Conference USA accolades. Representing UAB on offense was running back Spencer Brown and wide receiver Austin Watkins Jr. On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Kristopher Moll, outside linebacker Jordan Smith and cornerback Brontae Harris were first team honorees.
An additional three defensive players earned third team honors in nose tackle Tony Fair, cornerback TD Marshall and safety Dy'jonn Turner. Senior left tackle Colby Ragland landed on third team offense.
Four Blazers earned fourth team honors: Right tackle Sidney Wells, safety Will Boler, punter Kyle Greenwell and kick returner Myron Mitchell.
The seven defensive players earning Athlon Sports preseason honors lead a unit that has finished top 10 nationally in total defense each of the past two years. UAB returns nine starters from last year's group that finished eighth overall in total defense.
Entering 2020, UAB brings back 18 total starters from a team that won the second most games in program history last year. The Blazers aim for their third straight C-USA West Division title this year and its second overall title in the past three years.
The Blazers have also won the most games (28) of any team in Conference USA since returning to action in 2017. UAB brings the nation's fourth longest active home winning streak into the season, having won 18 in a row at Legion Field.
