Emma Andraka Named to CCSA Preseason Watch List

BIRMINGHAM – Sophomore Emma Andraka has been named to the CCSA Preseason Watch List, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
Andraka enters her second year in the Green and Gold after playing a vital role for the Blazers as a true freshman. She was named UAB's Freshman of the Year after picking up 12 wins, all of which came on court five.
The King of Prussia, Pa., native is poised to have an increased role this season in the top of UAB's lineup.
"Emma has not only been a competitor for us this preseason, but an inspirational athlete in taking the team's training to the level we need to make the next step into national prominence," head coach Kyra Iannone said. "She is one of the smartest and hard-working players on the team. She has greatly improved since her debut last year as a freshman and I am excited to see what is ahead for Emma this season."
UAB opens the season this Saturday, Feb. 22 against North Alabama and CCSA opponent Tulane, who like the Blazers, are receiving votes in the AVCA Top 20 national poll.
The Blazers will face their most challenging schedule in program history in 2020 which features playing nine teams who are currently nationally ranked, and four teams currently inside the top five.
First serve between UAB and North Alabama on Saturday is set for 10 a.m., followed by the Blazers and Green Wave at 2 p.m.
