Women’s Golf Places 15th at Allstate Sugar Bowl

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's golf team placed 15th at the Allstate Sugar Bowl hosted by Tulane University in its first competition of the spring.
Sophomore Chiara Vikkula led the Blazers with a 58th place finish and shot a UAB-low 74 on the final day of action.
Florida (-23) won the team title by 15 strokes over Miami (-7) who finished second. Michigan State (-1), Denver (+1) and Houston (+3) rounded out the top five.
Individually, Clara Manzalini of Florida and Anna Backman of Miami tied for the low score at -7.
UAB is now off for a month before returning to action in Gulf Shores when it hosts the Blazer Beach Bash, March 20-22.
