Beach Volleyball Green and Gold Match Set for Friday Afternoon

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team will hold its annual Green and Gold match this Friday, Feb. 14, at the Blazer Beach Complex. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
The Green and Gold match is the first of three consecutive events at home for the Blazers. After Friday, UAB hosts Tulane and North Alabama to open the season on Feb. 22, followed by the Blazer Beach Bash set for Feb. 28-29.
UAB begins the 2020 campaign receiving votes in the AVCA Top 20 national poll. The Blazers are poised to play their most challenging schedule in program history which features facing nine team ranked in the preseason poll, including four teams inside the top five (No. 2 Florida State, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 USC, No. 5 Hawaii).
Senior Kenley Adams highlights the returning players as she enters her final season in the Green and Gold just 11 wins away from becoming the program's career wins leader.
The Blazers have eight returning players and will introduce nine new faces (eight freshman, one grad transfer). The 17 players compose the largest roster in program history.
UAB also looks to build off its best season in program history from a year ago when the Blazers won 14 games and defeated their second nationally ranked opponent ever.
