Men’s Tennis Opens Fall Season with Pair of Tournaments

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team opens the season at the Chattanooga Collegiate Clay Court Classic and the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall over the weekend.
"We are really looking forward to both events this weekend," said head coach Derek Tarr. "They are first-class, well run tournaments and our players are guaranteed lots of matches."
A pair of sophomores, Roman Postolka and Michal Lusovsky, will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to compete Friday-Sunday. Both players were named to Conference USA All-Conference teams last season.
Seniors Tom el Safadi, Nikolai Manchev and Giovani Pasini, along with underclassmen Daniel Janko, Chase Parker and Nikola Puric, head to Chattanooga to compete Friday-Sunday as well.
The Blazers look to repeat the success they saw in Chattanooga last season when Pasini and Fernando Vargas claimed victory in the doubles back draw, while el Safadi advanced to the singles back draw final.
