Men’s Tennis Releases 2019-20 Schedule

BIRMINGHAM – The 2019-20 UAB men's tennis fall and spring schedules were released on Monday, according to head coach Derek Tarr.
The Blazers open up play Sept. 13-15 when they travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. to take part in the Chattanooga Collegiate Clay Court Championships before heading north to play in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic Sept. 20-23.
Sept 28-29 will see UAB participate in the Southern Miss Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss., while the team makes the short drive across Birmingham for the Samford Hidden Dual, which will take place Oct. 4-6.
Next up for the Blazers is the ITA All-American event, held annually in Tulsa, Okla., with this year's edition being held Oct. 5-13. The ITA Southern Regional, a traveling event, will be hosted by Auburn Oct. 17-22 after being held in Tuscaloosa, Ala. last year.
UAB's final two fall events will both take place in the Magic City, with the Country Club of Birmingham Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Alabama, set to take place Nov. 1-3, before the Pelham Racquet Club Invite, hosted by Samford, serves as the cap on the fall season Nov. 8-10.
The spring competition schedule kicks off on Jan. 12 in Starkville, Miss. as the Blazers take on Mississippi State. UAB will then face its second consecutive SEC foe, Alabama, on Jan. 18 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The first home match of the campaign comes on Feb. 2 as the blazers play host to Chattanooga before hosting North Alabama on Feb. 7. UAB takes on its first Conference USA team of the year on Feb. 9 as it travels to Hattiesburg, Miss. to play Southern Miss. The Blazers look to make it two in a row against the Golden Eagles after winning last season's match, 4-1.
UAB will remain on the road Feb. 15, heading to Mobile to face off with South Alabama before taking on Troy on Feb. 16.
After taking 12 days off, the Blazers return to the courts on Feb. 28, playing Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tenn. UAB then returns to Birmingham for three straight home matches against Alabama A&M, Jackson State and Belmont on Feb. 29, Mar. 1 and Mar. 7, respectively.
A trip to California is next on the agenda for the Blazers, as they play California on Mar. 17, Saint Mary's on Mar. 18, San Francisco on Mar. 20 and Santa Clara on Mar. 21.
UAB heads across town to take on Samford on Mar. 27, and will wrap up the month at home against Alabama State on Mar. 29.
The Blazers travel to Hattiesburg once again Apr. 3-5 to participate in the Conference USA Shootout, playing three matches against league foes over three days of competition.
The final two matches of the regular season will take place in the Carolinas as UAB plays Furman on Apr. 10 and Charlotte on Apr. 11.
The Conference USA Tournament is set for Apr. 17-19 and will be hosted by Charlotte.
