Nine Gameday Items to Know of UAB Football in 2019

BIRMINGHAM - The 2019 UAB football season is just over two weeks away from kicking off on Aug. 29 at Legion Field, and the Department of Athletics wants to make sure fans are ready for all aspects of gameday. With six home games on the schedule, this will be one of the most exciting seasons in program history as the Blazers look to repeat as Conference USA Champions.
Here are nine things you need to know when you are making your UAB football plans this fall.
1. BEFORE YOU GO:
BlazerGameday.com is your one-stop shop to get all of the information you need to take care of your driveway-to-driveway experience on football gamedays. Search for stadium maps, purchase gameday parking passes in advance, get real time traffic updates and more. You can even use the chat feature to get your questions answered instantly.
2. FAMILY-FRIENDLY TICKETS:
Packages of four season tickets are available for $300 which means that you get the best single-game price available to bring your family to enjoy the game. For select games this season, fans will also be able to purchase a single game four-pack of tickets for $40.
3. TRANSPORTATION:
Let us make navigating gameday traffic easier for you. Fans are invited to enjoy free parking at Express Lot 4 near the UAB campus and take a free shuttle service to and from Legion Field. Once the buses arrive at the stadium, golf cart shuttles are ready and willing to take you to Blazer Village, a tailgate spot or your specific gate entrance.
The Express Lot shuttle service begins four hours prior to kickoff and runs for one hour post-game. This is the true VIP experience at no cost.
4. PURCHASE ONE-OF-A-KIND GAMEDAY EXPERIENCE:
Want to "Win as One" with your employees/customers? Celebrate a special occasion with Birmingham's team. UAB group ticket packages offer discounted ticket prices and unique fan experiences. Depending on your group size, you may qualify for a one-of-a-kind experience. Some potential experiences are: spirit tunnel, a photo on the field, an opportunity to wave the UAB flag and more.
5. BLAZER VILLAGE:
Join the largest gathering of Blazer fans on gameday inside Blazer Village. This area on the west side of Legion Field is your spot for fun. Kids are invited to play for hours on the inflatable toys, interactive games, dance with the DJ and get their face painted. Adults can enjoy visiting vendors and purchase new gameday gear from the UAB Bookstore.
New for 2019 is the addition of the beer garden and pregame lounge space for fans 21 and older. Located inside Blazer Village, Blazer gamedays will now offer the opportunity to sample local and regional craft beers. The beer garden and all Blazer Village activities will open four hours prior to each game and close 30 minutes prior to kickoff.
6. BLAZER WALK:
When you hear the sirens, you know the team is on its way. Two hours prior to kickoff fans line the path leading from Blazer Village into the stadium gates to greet the team. Follow the Marching Blazers and the spirit teams as they make their way around the tailgate areas to let fans know that it's time to welcome Coach Clark and the UAB Football team.
7. LET'S GET CLEAR:
Like most major stadiums, Legion Field enforces a clear-bag policy, which requires all bags to be see-through and no larger than 12"x6"x12". Some fans simply use one-gallon plastic freezer bags. Be sure to check the list of prohibited items before leaving for the game to avoid any delays heading into the stadium.
8. ADULT BEVERAGES ARE SERVED:
For fans over the age of 21, Legion Field has a variety of options available for purchase. This makes UAB Football one of the few programs in the country to provide this enhancement both outside and inside the stadium. Fans are reminded to drink responsibly and always use ride share or a designated driver on gameday.
9. ON FIRE:
Where there is a dragon, there is fire. Keep your eyes to the skies and watch as flames shoot high into the air every time the Blazers score. Get to your seats inside the stadium early to enjoy the pregame show from the Marching Blazers and the special smoke and fire that brings the team out onto the field.
