UAB Football Game 11 Opponent Preview: Louisiana Tech
7/22/2019 3:41:00 PM | Football
BIRMINGHAM – The Blazers' final home game of 2019 comes on Saturday, Nov. 23 when UAB hosts Louisiana Tech at Legion Field. The game will air on ESPN+ and a kickoff time will be announced at a later date.
UAB has won both games against La. Tech since the program was reinstated in 2017, which were the first two wins in the all-time series for the Blazers.
Series: Louisiana Tech Leads, 5-2
Last Meeting: Oct. 6, 2018: UAB 28-7
Current Streak: UAB – W2
In 2017, the Blazers registered one of their most iconic moments in program history with a blocked field goal as time expired to defeat the Bulldogs 23-22 for the first time ever. Last season in Ruston, UAB used a dominant defensive effort en route to a 28-7 victory.
With Jim Thorpe Award Watch List honoree Brontae Harris locking down one cornerback position, the other corner position is open with the departure of last year's co-starters D.A. Williams and Duke Culver.
A pair of true sophomores in Starling Thomas V and CD Daniels each earned valuable experience last season and should be the leading candidates to fill that void heading into fall camp.
Louisiana Tech also boasts a standout corner in Amik Robertson. The junior was a First Team All-Conference USA performer last year after picking up 61 tackles, 7.5 TFL, four interceptions and 12 pass breakups. Like Harris, Robertson was named to the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List, as well as the Bednarik Award Watch List.
The Blazers are 38 days away from kicking off the 2019 season. UAB opens with Alabama State on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Legion Field at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
