Lee Dufour Lands on Rimington Trophy Preseason Watch List

BIRMINGHAM – Redshirt senior Lee Dufour has been named to the Rimington Trophy Preseason Award Watch List, annually given to the nation's most outstanding center.
This is the second straight year Dufour has appeared on the preseason watch list. He has been with the program since 2014 and is one of two remaining players who was on the team before the program was eliminated, along with placekicker Nick Vogel.
Dufour has 24 career starts under his belt. He started three games as a true freshman, and then started 19-straight beginning in 2017 until he broke his elbow in last year's North Texas game.
Following the injury, Dufour missed the final five games of the regular season, but returned to start the Conference USA Championship Game and Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl, both of which were UAB victories.
Dufour helped UAB establish new school records for total points (418), total yards (5,680), rushing yards (2,818), total touchdowns (53) and rushing touchdowns (32) in 2018. Additionally, he helped block for First Team All-Conference USA running back Spencer Brown, who set the single season record for total touchdowns (17) and rushing touchdowns (16), while adding 1,227 rushing yards.
The Rimington Trophy is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football. Founded in 1997, the NCFAA and its 25 awards now boast over 800 recipients, dating to 1935. Visit ncfaa.org to learn more about the association.
UAB is just over 40 days away from kicking off the 2019 season at home against Alabama State on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.
