UAB Ends 2019 Receiving Votes in Final AVCA Top 20 National Poll

BIRMINGHAM - Coming off its most successful season in program history, the UAB beach volleyball team ended the 2019 campaign receiving votes in the final AVCA Top 20 National Poll.
The Blazers won a program record 14 matches this season, and did so by navigating its toughest schedule in school history which featured contests against 14 nationally ranked opponents.
UAB won a school record three regular season CCSA matches with victories coming over No. 18 Georgia State, UNC Wilmington and Southern Miss. The win against Georgia State marked UAB's second victory over a nationally ranked opponent in school history. Its first came in 2017 at No. 8 South Carolina.
Senior Tressa Buckland and graduate student Jaelyn Keene led the way as UAB's top duo. Not only did Buckland become UAB's career wins leader with 52, but she and Keene also set the single season wins record with 19 en route to being the first Blazer duo ever to receive CCSA All-Conference honors.
The Blazers graduated four players and return a core group of eight student-athletes, to go along with nine incoming players for the 2020 season.
Led by No. 3 LSU, the CCSA had six teams finish inside the final AVCA Top 20, and along with Blazers had an additional three teams receive votes.
