Brown and Harris Headline Nine Blazers on Athlon Sports All-C-USA Team

BIRMINGHAM – Junior running back Spencer Brown and redshirt junior cornerback Brontae Harris were selected by Athlon Sports as First Team All-Conference USA honorees to lead nine Blazers on the 2019 preseason award list.
Along with Brown and Harris, defensive lineman Garrett Marino was a Second Team Defense selection, while quarterback Tyler Johnston III and center Lee Dufour were Third Team Offense, and linebackers Kristopher Moll and Fitzgerald Mofor were Third Team Defense.
Two specialists in place kicker Nick Vogel and punter Kyle Greenwell were Third Team Specialists.
Brown enters his junior year 261 yards shy of becoming UAB's career rushing leader. Brown was a FWAA Freshman All-American in 2017 and was a First Team All-Conference USA selection in 2018. The Kimberly, Ala. native has 2,556 career rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns in 27 career games.
Harris was Conference USA's highest rated cornerback in 2018 according to Pro Football Focus. He led the team in interceptions and pass breakups, and saw limited balls thrown his way as opposing teams rarely challenged his side of the field.
Every Blazer listed on the Athlon Sports All-Conference USA Team is a returning starter from last year's team that finished 11-3 overall and won the C-USA title and Boca Raton Bowl.
The Blazers are 19-8 overall and 14-3 in C-USA since their return to action in 2017, which is the most wins by any league school over the last two years.
UAB is less than 100 days away from opening the 2019 campaign. The Blazers begin the season on Thursday, Aug. 29, against Alabama State at Legion Field with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. The Blazers are 12-0 at home since 2017 and own the nation's fifth longest active home winning streak.
