Men’s Tennis Overcomes In-State Foe Alabama A&M, 6-1

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB men's tennis team got itself back on a winning track in impressive fashion, defeating Alabama A&M 6-1 at George Ward Park Saturday afternoon.

UAB (5-5, 1-0 C-USA) claimed the doubles point with a sweep of all three matches. The Blazers' nationally-ranked (No. 40) pairing of Roman Postolka and Michal Lusovsky defeated Shakir Elvin and Hsiang Yi Wang, 6-1, before Daniel Janko and Jasper Van Kleef clinched the point with a 6-3 win over Cristain Bigott and Rodrigo Aran Rios.

Lusovsky won his singles match against Rios, 6-2, 6-1, before Janko put the Blazers up 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nishangan Nadaraja. Postolka overcame Wang in the No. 1 position, 6-2, 6-3, to clinch the match for the Green and Gold. Tom el Safadi and Giovani Pasini also recorded wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.

UAB returns to the courts on Friday to take on another in-state foe, Alabama State. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the UAB Tennis Courts.
