A Letter From UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram

Dear Blazer Nation,
Let me start by thanking you for your incredible support for all of our teams. UAB continues to be at the top of Conference USA in football attendance, and we need your help to reclaim the title in 2019. The Blazers return home to host UTEP on November 16th in our annual Salute to Service game. Fans can donate a $10 ticket through our Tickets for Troops initiative by clicking here and using the promo code: TFT. We will coordinate sending your donated tickets to local military members and veterans on your behalf through VetTix. Let's each do our part to keep the nation's fifth longest active home winning streak alive by purchasing single game tickets or group tickets and finishing the 2019 season strong!
The Blazers are bowl eligible for the third-consecutive season. Bowl applications can be found here. Please complete the online application and notate which games you would attend if we are selected. You will not be charged until UAB is officially selected for its bowl destination.
We hosted Hoops at the Hill with men's and women's basketball on October 17th as part of another fantastic Homecoming week at UAB. Both seasons are underway, and 2019-20 season tickets are still the most cost effective way to catch each game in person. Women's basketball is coming off back-to-back 25 win seasons, and season tickets can be secured by purchasing the 2019-20 Gold Card for $65. Men's basketball has more depth than they have had in several years and are coming off of back-to-back 20 win campaigns. Season tickets include all 18 home games with packages starting as low as $105.
Both the men's and women's Golf teams are having a fantastic start to their respective seasons. Women's golf, under the guidance of second year head coach Ryan Ashburn, became just the second team in program history to win two tournaments in the same season along with the 2002-03 squad. It had been since 2007 since they won a tournament. The men's golf team has played in some of the toughest tournaments in the country and were ranked No. 25 in the initial Golfstat.com poll on October 16th. This is the highest the Blazers have been ranked since finishing the 2013-14 season at No. 19.
The holiday season is right around the corner, and we recently partnered with Barnes & Noble to create a new online store for you to purchase the best Blazer gear. This is long overdue and something we are excited about sharing with you. Continue to wear your Blazer gear with pride and share your passion with friends and family while doing our holiday shopping!
There are a couple of facility improvements pending. You will see the scoreboards at Young Memorial Field (baseball) and Mary Bowers Field (softball) replaced before the start of their respective seasons, along with a large marquee sign at the corner of University Blvd and I-65 North which will allow for the promotion of all UAB events. Each of these will be great enhancements to our programs. Additionally, the Board of Trustees approved Phase III of the Baseball and Softball Clubhouse project which will occur when additional funding is secured. Our hope is to break ground before the end of the spring semester. We have made great progress thanks in large part to the lead gift by Gerald and Nicki Kennedy. Gerald played baseball at UAB from 1992-93 and has contributed $1 million to the project. If you are interested in supporting the project and learning more about ways to help, click here.
The Blazers continue to have record-breaking success, and we could not do it without you. Thank you to everyone who makes a gift, buys a ticket or purchases gear. We look forward to finishing fall competition on a high note and carrying that momentum into the new year.
Go Blazers!
