Postolka Wins Crimson Singles Draw at CCB Invitational

BIRMINGHAM - UAB sophomore Roman Postolka claimed first place in the Crimson Singles Draw over the weekend at the Country Club of Birmingham Collegiate Invitational, winning four matches en route to the title.
"I'm proud of Roman and our whole team for the way they played this weekend," head coach Derek Tarr said. "They got a lot of matches and performed well."
Postolka defeated ETSU's Dimitri Badra (6-3, 1-6, 6-4), Tulane's Tim Ruetzel (7-6, 6-2) and Alabama's Jeremy Gschwendtner (6-1, 6-4) before taking down Rossouw Norval of Samford (6-3, 6-2) in the championship match. Fellow sophomore Michal Lusovsky finished in the semifinals of the same draw, overcoming Marcelo Sepulveda Garza (Alabama), 7-6 (5), 6-4 and Karlo Kajin (Louisiana), 6-2, 6-3.
Lusovsky and Daniel Janko impressed in the Crimson Doubles Draw, making it all the way to the championship match and finishing second in the group. The pair claimed wins over Gschwendtner and Sepulveda-Garza (Alabama), 8-7 (3) and Dworak and Gilheany (Louisiana), 8-6 before falling, 8-3, to Ole Miss' Engelhardt and Slavic in the final match.
Janko also won two matches in singles play while competing in the White Singles Draw, while freshman Nikola Puric participated in the Houndstooth Singles Draw, ending up in the championship match. Puric saw victories over Samford's Timothy Dixon and Lipscomb's Jake Penny before he fell in the final to Beji Jacobson of Tulane.
Additionally, Parker Bradbary and Chase Parker claimed the Houndstooth Doubles Draw title, defeating Blissard and Delcour of South Alabama, Bogdanovich and Penny of Lipscomb and Faulkner and Kelly of Belmont.
The Blazers return to the courts Nov. 8-10 as they head to Pelham, Ala. for an event hosted by Samford University.
