Taylor Russell Named MEAC Bowler of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Senior Taylor Russell has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Russell is the first Blazer to earn the award this season. She was named to the All-MEAC Preseason Bowling Team and was a NTCA (National Tenpin Coaches Association) Honorable Mention All-American in 2018.
The Tupelo, Miss., native played an important role in UAB's success at the Vern Stallings Invitational this past weekend. She finished in fourth place in which was the highest placing MEAC bowler in the individual standings of the tournament at 217.83 in traditional play. She topped the 200-pin mark five times including a weekend high of 266, which is the third-highest single-game mark in the conference this season. Russell was named to the All-Tournament Team as well.
The Blazers return to the lanes on February 7 when they travel to Orlando, Fla. to compete in the Wildcat Classic hosted by Bethune-Cookman.
