Austin Watkins Jr. Added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Wide receiver Austin Watkins Jr. has been added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, annually presented to college football's most outstanding FBS receiver by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
The junior is having a monster season with 31 catches for 655 yards and five touchdowns through seven games. He is leading the league in both receiving yards and receiving yards per game (93.6).
Amongst national leaders, his 655 receiving yards ranks him 12th, while his 93.6 yards per game is 13th. Additionally, he ranks No. 10 in the country with an average of 21.13 yards per reception.
Watkins Jr. is coming off back-to-back 100-yard receiving games with a career high 167 yards at UTSA and 121 yards against Old Dominion.
The Miami native is leading a trio of UAB wide receivers who are amongst the most productive units in the nation. Watkins Jr., Kendall Parham and Myron Mitchell have combined for 1,512 of UAB's 1,763 receiving yards this year, good for 85.8% of the team's total receiving yards.
The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation will name 10 semifinalists on Nov. 18, and will then narrow it down to three finalists on Nov. 25. The winner will be announced on Dec. 12 during The Home Depot College Football Awards Presented by Gildan which airs live on ESPN from 6-8 p.m. CST.
UAB (6-1) is off this week and returns to the field on Nov. 2 for its final non-conference game of the season at Tennessee in Knoxville. The game kicks at 7 p.m. local time, 6 p.m. CST on ESPNU.
