Logan Scott Named to John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Logan Scott has been named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, annually given to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the national outlet announced on Friday.
Scott started nine games last season and was limited due to a midseason injury, but was instrumental in UAB's devastating rushing attack. He also hauled in four catches for 51 yards and a touchdown and is anticipated to be more involved in the passing game this season.
"Logan is an outstanding young man who has earned everything he's ever accomplished," Tight Ends Coach Casey Woods said. "He's an athletic threat in the pass game and a dominant blocker. He will be a catalyst for our offense because of his versatility."
Scott helped pave the path for a ground game which tied the school record for rushing touchdowns in a season with 27. The Purvis, Miss. native contributed to the offensive line who blocked for Freshman All-America running back Spencer Brown and All-Conference USA quarterback A.J. Erdely. That duo accounted for 23 of UAB's 27 rushing touchdowns.
In all, 63 student-athletes were named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, while Scott is one of four tight ends from Conference USA, along with Harrison Bryant (Florida Atlantic), Mik'Quan Deane (WKU) and Kelvin Smith (North Texas).

NFL Hall of Fame member John Mackey is considered to be the best to have played the tight end position.
