BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB President Ray Watts and the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees have agreed upon contract extensions for Director of Athletics Mark Ingram, Head Men's Basketball Coach Robert Ehsan and Head Women's Basketball Coach Randy Norton.
Ingram, who just completed his third year at the helm of UAB Athletics, signed a five-year extension through April 30, 2023.
"I am excited to extend Mark Ingram's contract and look forward to continued success and growing momentum in UAB Athletics," Watts said. "Since joining UAB in May 2015, Mark has provided outstanding leadership to UAB Athletics during the most transformational 3-year period in the department's history."
Ingram has guided the Blazer athletics department to new heights since his arrival in Birmingham, which included the successful reinstatement of football, bowling and rifle.
Along with unprecedented fundraising numbers which have exceeded $45 million in three years for the UAB Athletics Campaign, Ingram has also put an emphasis on capital projects with substantial upgrades to more than 20 athletics facilities.
"I appreciate the continued support from President Watts, Administration and the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees," Ingram said. "We have made a lot of progress in the last three years and fully intend to do the same in years to come. It is an exciting time to be a Blazer."
Along with Ingram, President Watts also announced extended contracts for Norton and Ehsan. Norton agreed to terms on a five-year deal to lead the women's basketball program through April 30, 2023, while Ehsan received a one-year extension to his current contract through April 1, 2022.
Norton was rewarded with a new five-year contract after guiding the women's basketball program to a record-breaking 2017-18 campaign.
The Blazers captured their first regular season C-USA title in program history en route to a school-record 27 victories and a second-round appearance in the WNIT. The Blazers return their top five leading scorers next season and are poised for another tremendous season.
"I am very thankful for the new contract, the support and the opportunity to continue to build a championship program here at UAB," Norton said. "We have established a great foundation and I am extremely grateful that Mark and our administration have the confidence in me and my staff to take this program to new heights."
Ehsan, who is 37-29 in his first two seasons as head coach, guided the Blazers to their third 20-win season in the last four years and the sixth in the past 10. He has signed one of the top recruiting class in Conference USA for the 2018-19 season.
"I am beyond appreciative for the belief that has been instilled in me and my staff," Ehsan said. "Competing for championships is the standard for UAB basketball and I am excited to lead this storied program as we continue to build upon its outstanding tradition."
