ORLANDO – With weather being a factor yet again on the final day of action at Reunion Resort - Watson Course, senior R.J. Keur rounded out his UAB career by posting a 73 (+1) in the final round at the NCAA Regional in Kissimmee, Fla.
Keur wrapped up the three-day tournament at even par (70-73-73 = 216, E), which left him 13 shots back of the leader, finishing him tied for 39th.
Keur started out slow, posting his first double bogey of the tournament on his first hole, but quickly showed his resiliency by turning around with a birdie on two of the next three holes.
Another birdie on seven brought Keur back to two under for the tournament before slipping up with a bogey on both 10 and 11.
Despite the back-to-back bogeys, Keur was even par over his final four holes to round out the tournament. Keur finished the tournament with eleven birdies, nine bogeys, and one double bogey in the three days.
"I am proud of how R.J. represented UAB at the NCAA Regional and for the entire two years he was a Blazer," head coach Mike Wilson said. "He had a tremendous career and there is a lot of golf to be played in his future."
Top-seeded Florida (-42) finished the tournament in first place, while UCF (-30) placed second, Vanderbilt (-22) climbed two spots on the final day to finish third, North Carolina (-21) in fourth, and Kent State (-20) rounded out the top five that will be advancing to NCAA Nationals in Stillwater, Okla.
Arizona's George Cunningham was the next lowest individual scorer not from the top five teams that will be advancing to Nationals as well.
