BIRMINGHAM, Ala. β Sophomore Tim Dollman and senior Stefan Gonzalez have been honored for their outstanding performances on the court for the UAB men's tennis team this season as the pair received All-Conference USA recognition, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Β
The duo was named to the All-Conference USA Doubles First Team, the first doubles tandem in program history to earn first-team honors, while Dollman snatched up a spot on the All-Conference USA Singles First Team for the second consecutive season.
Β
Dollman is the first player in school history to named First Team All-Conference in singles and doubles in the same season and the second to be named First Team All-Conference in singles in back-to-back seasons along with Martin Woisetchlager (1997-2000). Gonzalez's first team nod in doubles marks the first All-Conference honor of his career.
Β
UAB (12-10) has now had at least one player earn league recognition in singles play in five of the last six seasons.
Β
Dollman was the Blazers' star player this season, dominating singles play throughout the season. Competing in the No. 1 position, the sophomore posted a 17-3 record in singles play, which includes a 3-2 record in C-USA.
Β
Prior to falling to a ranked opponent in the tournament, Dollman had won eight-straight matches to help UAB secure its most team wins since 2015-16.
Β
The duo of Dollman and Gonzalez was the Blazers' top threat in doubles play, finishing the year with a 13-5 record at the No. 1 position. The pair helped UAB compile a 38-20 record in doubles over the course of the year.
