TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The UAB track and field team had another solid performance this weekend as two runners set season best and two other set new PRs Saturday at the Alabama Invite.

Kyla Horn set a new PR in the 100-meter hurdles running a time of 14.82. Meanwhile, Taylor Jones recorded her PR in the 200-meter finishing with a time of 24.52. In the 1500-meters Celestial Moon and Bethan Evans both ran seasonal bests while Lauren Capone ran her best 400-meter of the season.

Moon ran the 1500 in 4:41.23 and Evans ran it in 4:41.55. Capone finished with a time of 57.18 in the 400-meters.

Blazer Highlights

Ali Cichos placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles finishing with a time of 14.40.
Rebecca Evans came in second in the 1500-meters with a final time of 4:40.47.
Marielle Lewis ran the 800-meter in 2:17.26 with an 11th place finish.
Shelbi White placed ninth in the 100-meter dash running it in a time of 12.08.

"We had several very nice performances today especially from Cele and Bethan who ran strong 1500m races," Thomas said. "Those were good signs. Kyla and Ali had solid hurdle races and Ali has been consistent and is ready for bigger times and a good Heptathlon next week. Kyla continues to improve every week and I think she is going to bust out in a big way soon. Taylor ran a good 200m and is ready for more competition. Everyone had a lot of races last week, so it was nice to come here and focus on individual races. The weather was pretty bad but the girls fought through. We have to be able to execute in any weather and this helped prepare us for that."

Up Next

UAB will stay in Alabama another week as it will travel to Auburn for the War Eagle Invitational. The meet runs April 13-14.
