Donado Sits Eight Shots Off the Lead

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. – The UAB women's golf team sits in 13th place of the Amelia Island Collegiate after the opening two rounds on Monday.
"Maria played pretty consistently," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "We got a bit frustrated during the second round but they are hitting the ball well so tomorrow will be better!"
Maria Donado paced the Blazers with an even par 72 in the first round and a 76 (+4) in round two. The Columbia native is tied for 11th overall and is just eight shots off the lead.
Kenna Hughes is in a tie for 51st after rounds of 77 (+5) and 80 (+8). Juliana Sebastian opened the first 18 holes strong with a 76 (+4) but carded an 83 (+11) in the second round to sit in a tie for 59th.
After an uncharacteristic 83 (+11) in the first round Sydney Snodgrass rebounded to shoot a 78 (+6) in the closing 18 and is tied for 59th. Stephenie Fowler, making her first collegiate start, is tied for 73rd after rounds of 83 (+11) and 81 (+9).
Junior college powerhouse Daytona State leads the tournament turning in rounds of 290 and 289 into the clubhouse and sits at (+3).
The final round of the tournament is set for Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. UAB is paired with Georgia State and Cincinnati.
