Letters From the AD: Bowl Bound and Basketball

Dear Blazer Nation,
I know I speak for everyone in saying how proud we all are of our football team. After an extraordinary season, our team showed tremendous resiliency in Murfreesboro against a great team in Middle Tennessee to bring home our first-ever Conference USA Championship. Soon after, we enthusiastically accepted an invitation to the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl and will take on the MAC Champion, Northern Illinois. This is the only game outside of the College Football Playoff that matches two conference champions against one another. We hope you can join us in sunny South Florida. Get your tickets here.
While you're at it, 2019 Football Season Tickets are on sale now...so order yours today! Being a season ticket holder will give you priority on season tickets in the new downtown football stadium, so don't get left out!
Men's basketball has two huge games coming up. The first is at Memphis on Sat. December 8th and the following Saturday, December 15th they take on Auburn at Legacy Arena. The Auburn game is available in 2018-19 season ticket packages. Our young Blazers are 5-2; they're gritty, and show a lot of toughness. They need all of us at these games, and at Bartow Arena cheering them on. Flex packs are also now available for $125 and includes 10 redeemable ticket vouchers good for any UAB home basketball games played at Bartow Arena. Call the UAB Athletics Ticket Office at (205) 975-UAB1 to order or purchase single-game tickets here.
The women's basketball team is having another great season at 6-1 and are very fun to watch. Women's Basketball Pick Six Mini Plans are available, giving you complete flexibility in attending games that work best for your schedule. Be sure to get to Bartow Arena soon to cheer these ladies on and click here to order your tickets now. Basketball tickets are a great holiday gift idea for your family or other special people in your life.
On December 15th we will have 34 Blazers graduate. This monumental accomplishment is something they will never forget, and having a degree from a world-class institution like UAB will serve them well for the rest of their lives. Thanks to all of our Blazer Boosters whose gifts support their academic scholarships.
Speaking of Blazer Boosters, last week we launched an initiative called IGNITE. This is a membership campaign in support of these gifted young men and women. Other peer metropolitan institutions currently have a larger base of support than UAB, and our goal is to pass these schools one-by-one in total athletics donors to better position UAB Athletics to compete at the highest level of college athletics. Find out how you can make a difference by becoming a Blazer Boosters member right here.
We have three facilities projects that are making steady progress. BBVA Compass Field will be complete at the end of December. This will add 4,000 seats, a 20x40 video board, permanent restrooms, a ticket office and concessions stand. It will be one of the finest on-campus soccer stadiums in the country. The track & field project will be complete at the end of January and will share the restrooms, concessions and ticket facilities with soccer. It will be an eight lane Mondo surface track, and will be one of the fastest in the state of Alabama. Finally, the beach volleyball facility will also be complete at the end of January. It will have five courts and expanded seating for spectators. Thanks to our donors, we continue to make progress on all fronts providing our coaches and student-athletes an opportunity to win championships and compete at the highest level.
Thanks again for all of the support you continue to show our teams, coaches and staff. We hope you'll have a warm and happy holiday season. See you soon.
Go Blazers!
