BOCA RATON, Fla. – With the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl now 72 hours away, the UAB football team has completed an action-packed first two days in South Florida.
Upon being greeted by Boca Raton residents at the airport on Friday, head coach Bill Clark headed straight to the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl press conference along with NIU head coach Rod Carey and other bowl representatives.
While Clark was addressing the media, the team headed straight to the Welcome Reception at the Boca Raton Resort and Spa pool deck, which featured food, games and relaxation for the players.
It was straight to business on Saturday morning as the team held their first practice of the week. The rain was falling all morning in South Florida which made for a tough practice on a grass field, but as Clark mentioned when addressing the media after practice, made the team lock in and focus.
The afternoon was spent at the Boca Raton Beach Party in which the Blazers traveled to Benny's on the Beach where the players were able to go fishing and relax by the ocean for a few hours.
UAB resumes practice on Sunday afternoon and will then take a visit to FAU stadium later that evening. Continue to check back with uabsports.com for updates and follow @UAB_FB on Twitter and Instagram.
The Blazers and Northern Illinois square off in the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl on Tuesday night, December 18 at 6 p.m. CST on ESPN.
