Dietz Earns Small Bore Shooter of the Month

BIRMINGHAM – Freshman Michael Dietz of the No. 18 UAB rifle team has been named the Southern Conference's October Smallbore Shooter of the Month, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.

This marks the freshman marksmans' first Shooter of the Month honor in his young Blazer career.

"I am so proud of Michael," head coach Lori Goodwin said. "His hard work and dedication to the sport is showing in his scores. I am thrilled for him."

Dietz has been the most consistent shooter in the UAB lineup as he has led the Blazers in all five matches this season. The Peralta, N.M., native carries a 570.2 Smallbore average, including firing a school record 583 in a dual match against Murray State and Georgia Southern.

UAB returns to the range this weekend with a match at VMI. The event is slated to begin at 7 a.m. CST.
