Tickets for Troops Initiative Launched for Salute to Service Games

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Department of Athletics will honor military service members, veterans and their families when their service and sacrifices are recognized during Salute to Service events this November. Tickets for Troops will be distributed for Nov. 9 through Nov. 14 events, and UAB Athletics is calling on Blazer Nation to send military and their families to the games surrounding Veterans Day for free.
"We are extremely appreciative of the sacrifices military members make on our behalf, and the annual Military Appreciation games are always some of our most special events of the year" UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram said. "I encourage Blazer fans to participate in the Tickets for Troops initiative in an effort to say 'thank you' to our service men and women while providing an opportunity for them and their families to experience Blazer Athletics."
UAB Athletics is working with local military organizations on the distribution of donated tickets. In addition, active, retired and reserved military personnel may request up to four tickets in advance of their selected event. To request tickets, or for additional questions, please contact Javarin Winston at jmw1006@uab.edu or call (205) 934-8715.
Fans are encouraged to submit pictures of family members who have or are currently serving in the military to sportspromo@uab.edu. Please include name, rank and branch so UAB Athletics can include as part of the game day recognitions.
