Blazers Sit in Top-10 After Day One

JONESBORO, Ark. – After going an impressive 4-1 on the first day of the Mid-Winter Classic, the No. 14 UAB bowling finds itself in 10th place.
"Overall we bowled very consistent," head coach Michelle Crews said. "We are still working through getting back from a long break and only getting two practices before competing. We went 4-1 today so that's a great start but we have a lot of work to do tomorrow to be in good position for bracket play on Sunday."
UAB opened the day with a commanding 953-750 victory over Alabama A&M before dropping its lone match of the day in game two, a 1,075-958 loss to Sam Houston State.
The Blazers recovered nicely to take down Maryville 1,020-981 in game three, Central Missouri 879-850 in game four and then closed the day with a 937-841 win over Lincoln.
Sam Houston State leads the tournament by 58 pins over Nebraska. Play resumes at 9:40 Saturday morning with team's set to bowl five Traditional matches.
