MOBILE, Ala. – The UAB women's golf team sits in third place after shooting a team score of 292 on the second day of the USA Intercollegiate. Heading the final day, the Blazers are within striking distance of first place as they are seven shots out of the lead and just two strokes out of second.
"They played solid today," head coach Kim Wilcox. "A few mistakes, but they played with guts and I can't wait for tomorrow."
Maria Donado once again served as the catalyst for the Blazers as she fired her second round under par with a two-under 70 today. An even par front nine was capped off birdies on 16 and 18 for a 34 (-2) on the second nine. She sits in second place and one stroke out of first.
"Maria is having a super tournament, she's worked hard and I am happy to see our team play well," Wilcox said.
Juliana Sebastian answered her even-par day one with a one-over 73 in the second round. Aside from one blemish on the 13th hole she played par golf the other 17 holes and is in a three-way tie for 10th.
Sydney Snodgrass finds herself in a five-way tie for fifth place after carding a 76 (+4) in the second round.
Imy Huxley made one of the biggest jumps up of the tournament moving up 22 places after a one-over par 73 performance. She finds herself in a seven-way tie for 38th.
Kenna Hughes rounded out the UAB lineup with a 78 and is tied with Huxley in 38th.
UAB tees off of hole number one tomorrow beginning at 10:10. The Blazers are paired with Lamar and Tulane who sit in first and second, respectively.
