BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association has tabbed UAB freshman Kaylee McClure to their fourth annual high school beach volleyball All-American team.
The Kennesaw, Ga. native was one of sixteen players nationally to receive recognition, taking home honorable mention honors. She joins the UAB Beach Volleyball program after competing extensively for the Southern Sand Select Club team, in addition to her time spent playing on the Carl Harrison High School indoor team and the prestigious A5 Volleyball club.
"We are excited about the skill set Kaylee adds to our team and believe she will mesh well with our veteran players" Blazers coach Kyra Iannone said. "We are honored to have Kaylee as a part of our program and look forward to the dynamic she will bring."
McClure made routine appearances in the USA Beach rankings and has competed in USA sponsored events since 2012. In 2016, she was named to the Junior Beach Volleyball Watch List and most recently finished first overall at the Southeastern JBT Championships in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
McClure joins four other newcomers looking to elevate the play of a team that returns its top five players, in terms of wins, from a season ago.
"We are very fortunate to return a solid nucleus from last season and will have the ability to mix and match many different pairs due to our club's versatility," Iannone added.
