IRVING, Texas - A pair of juniors in R.J. Keur and Taylor Eyster have earned All-Conference USA Golf honors for their outstanding efforts this season, the league office announced on Thursday.
Kuer was a First Team All-Conference USA performer, while Eyster earned Second Team All-Conference USA recognition. The all-conference teams were based on the players' current individual Golfstat rankings.
"R.J. and Taylor were both very impressive this year against one of the nation's top schedules. It is very difficult to compete in golf at a high level each week. Both guys were on their games almost every time they teed it up for us. I am hopeful that their seasons will translate into NCAA bids for both."
Keur erupted on the scene for the Blazers as a mid-year transfer from Charleston Southern. In seven tournaments for the UAB this spring, Keur led the Blazers four times, and was the team's second top finisher in two additional tournaments.
The North Charleston, S.C. native put together a stretch where he had four consecutive top 20 finishes, which included back-to-back second place finishes at the Colleton River Collegiate and the Schenkel Invitational. For his career-best -10 at the Schenkel, Keur was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
Overall, Keur led the team with a 72.5 stroke average, notched two top five finishes and had seven rounds at or under par this season.
Eyster earned Second Team All-Conference USA accolades and continues to be one of the top golfers in C-USA year-in and year-out.
A year after winning the C-USA Tournament and earning first team honors, Eyster was the runner-up at this year's C-USA Tournament.
Eyster led the team with five tournaments at or under par, and played a team-best 16 rounds at or under par. He finished the season with a 72.8 stroke average.
The Birmingham native shot a low of 208 in his backyard at the Jerry Pate National at Old Overton and led the Blazers to a fourth place team finish en route to beating opponents such as Alabama, Arkansas, Charlotte, Michigan, Florida State and Mississippi State.
Keur and Eyster await to see if they qualify individually for NCAA Regionals. The selection show today at 11 a.m. on The Golf Channel.
