Blazers Snap Three-Game Skid, Defeat ASU 6-1

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s tennis team snapped its three game skid with a 6-1 win over Alabama State on Friday afternoon at the Lakeshore Tennis Complex.

Doubles
Eric Komati and Anru Fourie quickly gave the Blazers the lead in doubles action with a 6-1 win on court two. On court one, Tim Dollman and Stefan Gonzalez earned a 6-4 win over the Hornets’ top tandem to secure the UAB point and lead, 1-0.
Singles
Fourie wasted no time adding to the Blazers lead, 2-0, with a swift 6-1, 6-2 win on court four. Komati picked up his second win of the day on court two with a 6-1, 6-0 victory to extend UAB’s lead to 3-0. Giovani Pasini secured the Blazers win, 4-0, with a 6-1, 6-3 win on court five.
Kenton Parton added the the lead with a 7-6, 6-4 win on court six, 5-0. Dollman won in a three-set match, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2 to add to UAB’s win 6-0.
The Hornets got on the board with a grueling 7-5, 5-7, 7-10 win over Stefan Gonzlazez on court three.
Next up
UAB returns to the courts on Sunday for Senior Day against FAU. The Blazers will honor seniors Christian Coetzee and Eric Komati with match play beginning at 1 p.m.
