UAB Women's Golf Sits in Third

FORT MYERS, Fla. - An opening round even par by newcomer Maria Donado helped guide the UAB women's golf team into third place after the first 18 holes of the Conference USA Tournament being played at the Verandah Club.
"The girls played well and I am proud of their start," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "We need to keep our heads down and stick to the game plan tomorrow. I know the girls have worked hard and are looking forward to playing again tomorrow."
Donado shot even par on both the front and back nines to lead UAB and sit in a three-way tie for fifth place.
Rebecca Chandler tallied two birdies on the day en route to a two-over par 74 and is tied for 11th with four other golfers.
Sydney Snodgrass and Kayla Wilbourn each carded 75s in the first 18-holes to be tied for 16th. Juliana Sebastian rounded out the Blazer lineup with a four-over 76 and is tied for 26th.
Old Dominion leads the team competition after shooting an opening round one-over (289) performance. Middle Tennessee follows the Monarchs in second place at four-over.
UAB tees off in the second-round beginning at 7:50 a.m. CT. The Blazers are paired with the Monarchs and the Blue Raiders.
