BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a thrilling come from behind win, the UAB men’s tennis team defeated Georgia Southern 4-3 at the Lakeshore Tennis Center Friday afternoon. The Blazers trailed 3-0 and won four straight singles matches to earn the victory.
After falling behind 3-0 with a doubles point and losses on courts four and five, Kenton Parton sparked the offense as he won on court six to cut the Eagles’ lead to two, 3-1. Tim Dollman, who was in his third set, was up 5-2 and his opponent defaulted due to fourth overrule to cut the lead to one, 3-2.
Eric Komati won on court two, after forcing a third set and Stefan Gonzalez secured the win with a grueling 7-6, 7-6 win on court three.
UAB continues its homestand with a doubleheader on Sunday against Alabama A&M and Alabama State.
